With nearly 150 photos submitted for the first annual "Wild New Hampshire Photo Contest" held by the Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn, New Hampshire I was honored as being chosen Best of Show with this photo.
The judges stated the competition was fierce as they narrowed the choices down to 55 photos to be displayed at the Massabesic Audubon until Dec 15th. An additional 6 hours were devoted to the remaining pictures to choose Best in Show and first place and first runner up in three categories (Animals, Plants and Landscapes)
Not too bad for my first photo competition if I do say so myself...

Run-in with the railroad
So I head out to the train trestle along the Merrimack River (Wiki) this morning to see if any of the Bald Eagles have shown up yet and also to take some pictures of the bridge with my Tokina 12-24mm lens. Everything was going fine even with no Bald Eagles in sight
as I am switching lenses to my Canon 100-400L this car shows up from nowhere driving down the side of the tracks, my first thought was the cops and was trying to remember if I saw any No Trespassing signs (there are none). I snap a few "from the hip" pictures without trying to be to obvious.
As the car gets closer I move onto the tracks to make room for him to pass, he slows down and lowers his passenger side window and tells me he is with the railroad and that If I am going to take pictures from the bridge I really shouldn't be standing on the tracks themself that I should be off to the side, I told him the only reason I was on the tracks was to let him pass, he chuckles and then explains that the bridge is private property and that I really need to move on, No problem I said... And snapped a few more pictures as he left. Notice the people at the end of this last picture,
